Tressell Ward is a council administrative division for the Borough of Hastings, East Sussex, UK. The town is divided into 16 such wards, each represented by two Borough councillors. For more information, visit the Hastings Borough Council website. Tressell Ward is named after Robert Tressell, Edwardian socialist and writer of 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists', an autobiographical novel based on his life as a painter and decorator in Hastings (which he calls 'Mugsborough' in the book). Latest news: 26th August 2010: Jeremy Birch met with local residents and officers of East Sussex County Council to discuss continuing problems with the Sussex Arms junction - mainly from the point of traffic safety, following several accidents at Mount Road. The junction is always going to be problematic, because so many roads meet there. However, ESCC officers are going to put together some proposals to try to make the junction safer. When we receive those, we will post them here. And the 'Unsuitable for HGV' signs have now been installed on Frederick Road, on the junction with Clifton Road. And the mini-roundabout has been removed at the Frderick Road/Oakfield junction. So some success there!
